What is Seesaw?
Seesaw has quickly become a powerful tool for our Mortimer Schools community.
Seesaw is a platform for student engagement and a communication tool for our children and parents where we share our work between school and home. Children are empowered to create, reflect, share, and collaborate.
We are aiming for our parental engagement to grow and grow, and for Seesaw to become even more ‘high profile’ across our school community.
How does it work?
Teachers, parents and children can all access videos, audio recordings and notes in one place.
Our children add posts to their journals at school or home. Our children’s posts showcase projects they’ve been working on; this could include photos, artwork, videos, activities, notes, projects they’ve created in other apps, and more.
Our families get notified when there are new posts in their children’s journal. They can view posts and add likes and comments.
What are the benefits for learners?
Empowerment of pupils – pupils will have a clear connection with their learning, giving them clear instructions on the set task. This gives children independence in their own learning.
Development of metacognitive skills – children will reflect on their learning and report back. This is crucial to the development of metacognitive skills, allowing the child to think about ”how can I learn best?”
Easily accessible – access from phone, tablet or desktop PC with easy to use, intuitive software.
Is Seesaw GDPR compliant?
The principles of privacy by design and privacy by default outlined in the GDPR have been core to the Seesaw mission, experience and product development process from the beginning. We have a number of tools and options in place today to protect the integrity of teachers, students and parents’ information globally.
